Making this event single elimination makes it rather unattractive to play in.

Sadly I have no choice, if I run it swiss, we will be here all weekend long, not enough space for a large tournament, swiss. Figure 7 round swiss, only fitting 40 for each round, playing segments of 3 for each round. sitting on first and second segment 40 players, and then 20 players for final segment. For a hundred people that breaks down to about 21 hours for 7 rounds, and then goes to top 8, places would be decided by wins, and percentages for 9 through 20th. Then top 8 would play out with no time limit, roughly adding another 3 hours.

Sorry to say, but I am almost certain that people rather have a single elimination rather then sitting around for a two day event, that might give them a chance to win top 8.

Now if we had enough room, to host a larger tournament, we would, and swiss would be nothing, it would only be 7 hours, and additional 3 hours for top 8, but thats kinda not possible at the current time.
