Tactical Evolution (TAEV) is the 27th booster set of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, which was released in Japan on May 12, 2007. The pre-release events for the English language release took place in Charlotte,NC and other places, on August 5th and 6th, 2007, and it was released on August 15, 2007.
Now there are 80 cards in the whole set;
48 Common
18 Rare
9 Super Rare
5 Ultra Rare
1 "Ghost" Rare Being Rainbow Dragon.
The set contains 80 cards, including 1 Ghost Rare, 5 Ultra Rares, 9 Super Rares, 18 Rares, and 48 Commons. This is the highest amount of cards available in a non-reprint TCG expansion since Ancient Sanctuary. Tactical Evolution introduces a new rarity to the game–Ghost Rare[1]–which includes multi-colored name text and image, an alternate version of an Ultra Rare available in the set. It also reintroduces Short-Print Commons. Every Ultra and Super Rare card has an Ultimate Rare counterpart in the English language release.
Here are some notable cards in the series;
Gemini Summoner - The Sneak Preview promotional card which will be offered exclusively in the English language release of Tactical Evolution.
Chthonian Emperor Dragon - A Dragon-type Gemini Monster. It is able to attack twice during the Battle Phase upon achieving its second Normal Summon.
Rainbow Dragon - The most powerful monster in the Crystal Beast series. It can only be summoned when seven types of Crystal Beasts exist on the field or in the Graveyard. By sending all Crystal Beasts on the field to the Graveyard, its ATK strength increases by 1000 for each sent to the Graveyard by said effect, or by removing seven different Crystal Beasts in one's Graveyard from play, every card on the field is returned to their respective owner's Deck.
Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes - The most powerful monster in the Venom series. Special Summoned by the effect of the Trap Card Rise of the Snake Deity and unaffected by all effects except its own, its ATK strength is increased by the number of Reptile-type monsters in the controller's Graveyard. It may be resurrected if destroyed through battle by removing 1 Reptile in the Graveyard from the game. Each time it inflicts battle damage to an opponent, it gains a "Hyper Venom Counter," and when three of such counters are collected, the controller of this card automatically wins the Duel.
Elemental Hero Darkbright - An Elemental Hero Fusion created by the combination between Elemental Hero Necroshade and Elemental Hero Sparkman. It switches to Defense Position at the end of the Damage Step in which it attacks, deals damage equal to the difference between its higher ATK and lower DEF of a defending monster, and it destroys 1 of the opponent's monsters when it itself is destroyed.
Mirror Gate - A long-awaited Trap Card missing from the initial release of cards from Jaden Yuki's Deck during the first season of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. It allows its user to swap control of one of his/her Elemental Hero monsters with another belonging to the opponent during the Battle Phase.
Crystal Seer - A long anticipated monster. When flipped, it allows the user to pick up the top 2 card of the user's deck, add one to his/her hand, then place the other in the bottom of the deck. This card works very well with Apprentice Magician.
